Biography: Deiene Zorriketa

Deiene Zorrikea, a beautiful whit skin girl with brown hair is one of the exchange students at the University of Mississippi right now. She was born Feb,06,1990 and came from Bilbao, Spain. Although she's been in Oxford for only one semester but it is the second year she stays in U.S. The first year she stau=yed in Idaho and met one of her best friend in her life there. Her major is English (Linguistics) and she is junior now as an exchange student here. She took some languages before and this semester she is starting to learn Chinese. She hopes that she can learn as many languages as she can and after she graduates from college she wants to get a master degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, and be an English teacher in U.S. I believe she has the talent to achieve this goal because I can tell that her English is really good compared with the other international students. Although she said that she still needs to improve her English accent, but I think she also performs quite good at this part.

She lived with her parents and one elder sister but her uncle, cousins, and grandmother also live in the same apartment in Spain so they are actually quite close to each other. She treats her young cousin just like her biological brother.

She told me that soon she will turn 21 years old next week the same day as the Super Bowl so she feels excited about the game and she will probably watch the game with her friends on TV on her birthday. And if she got the chance, she'd like to have some Chinese tattoo on her arms.

During her free time, she likes watching movies with her friends either in the cinema or in her friend's house or listen the music, especially rock music. Her favorite movie is Peter Pan but she hates horror movies. About the food, she likes her grandmother's cooking and her favorite traditional food is called " Chipironies," which is made by baby squid in its own ink but she hates garbanzo beans. In her opinion, she thinks that the difference between her home country 's food and American food is American food usually uses more fat since they use butter to cook instead of using olive oil to cook in Spain. The most impressive book for her is probably The True Blood Saga but she hates the most The Misfortunes of the Young Werther. Her favorite color is black, green and dark blue and she doesn't like yellow so much. She likes dogs and jaguars but she hates bugs a lot. She has one small male Yokie named Toy in her home country and she hopes to keep a dog if she is going to live here for a long time. She is interesed in traveling to Asian countries like Thailand and China since she had taken Chinese class this semester. She said there has a small island near the Thailand where she really wants to visit with her friend one day.

She enjoys the life in Oxford so far. She likes Taylor as club the most and she recommend City grocery as the best restaurant in Oxford. She is quite used to the weather here and she said that Spain is warm but rains most of the time, like London. This semester she took four regular classess and two IEP classes in total and she likes all of her classess. She really appreciate the opportunity to study aboard here because it's a great chance to learn about other cultures, languages and meet different people.

In the end, I asked her that if the end of the world is coming tomorrow, what she will desire to accomplish for the rest of hours, then she said she would do all of the things that she wouldn't even think about doing in the past. I think she is really a cool girl.
