Minyeong Son, or Min is how she likes to be called, is a 22 year old foreign exchange student from Korea, is taking IEP classes to improve her English skills in the University of Mississippi. She considers herself a very happy and cheerful person but whenever she is in big social groups, like a meeting she becomes very shy. Minyeong consideres her family quite loud breaking the myth of quiet Asian people.
She lives with her parents and her younger sister. They are a really close family who love outdoors activities like going to the park to spend the day all together. They are also a really united family that love talking about anything over dinner and fix any issues all together. Even though her family follows the rules of Buddism, she doesn´t consider herself Buddist, in fact she doesn´t follow any specific religions. An interesting fact about her name, Minyeong Son, is that a buddist monk really close to the family chose it. Because of this I could feel related to her since my great uncle who was a priest found my name in a Basque mytology book and because of this I´ve been named Deiene.
Min is studying education and at her 22 years of age, she has her idea of the future pretty clear. She sees herself as an English teacher in 10 years. She is trying to perfectionize her English so she can teach other kids the language that she likes so much. She visualizes her future having travelled thoughout the world and having seen lots of different countries and cultures.
In her free time she doesn´t practice any sports, although she likes watching them either on the field or on TV. She also loves watching movies or TV dramas, but her real passion are thrillers. Like any other person her age, Min loves spending time with her closest friends and chatting about almost anything with them.
Even though she is from Korea, Min loves Japanese food, especially Sushi. She would love to visit the country to try some real homemade Sushi. Before she came to the USA, she used to love the food of this country, now after being here for a while, she is sick of it and wish she wouldn´t have to eat it anymore!! She misses her country´s food, especially Samkyupsal, which is kind of a BBQ Pork Korean style. Apart from the Samyupsal food, she misses Korean style pubs where she can sit on the floor and enjoy the Samyupsal food style. But what she misses the most about home is her family and friends. She wished she had them here with her to enjoy this experience with her.
After getting to know her a little bit better, I´ve realized that first impressions are not always right, I thought she would be a finance or business major, and she turned out to be an education major(what a guess!), then I thought that she was really shy and she turned out to be a really social, outgoing, nice, smart, and funny person!!
I like your photos. Especially second one's ambience is so nice. I like the picture of low angle! And I tortally agree with the 5th paragraph!!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you describes Min, it seems like you really know her a lot because you gives us so many details about her. The whole structure is really clear and comfrotable to read so it makes me want to read more. Besides, I like the black and white colour from the second picture! Compared with the original picture, it looks more professional and harmony!
ReplyDeleteI like what you wrote about Min, it presented a very cute Min to us.I think it's quite important to add some anecdotes in the passage, the one about her name is good one.It really makes the story interesting and attract me to keep reading. Maybe you should add the junk food one too, I believed that those stories will make the character more full-fledged.
ReplyDeleteAs to the picture, the second one is classic! It's quite old school. And I like it so much. From that picture, I can totally figure out that Min is a academic person.
Good Job!
