my mosaic

My mosaic was inspired by one of the scene from the movie, “Moulin Rouge”. I wanted to describe the scene when the courtesan appeared on the stage in the magenta spotlight and the audience in black gave her big hand. So, I created a line at the bottom with pure black color and a heart shape with magenta. The background will be filled with blue same as the movie.

The pure black represented the audience in tuxedo who wanted the courtesan for their own entertainment. I used different magenta colors: red-magenta, pinkish magenta, and purple-magenta for a heart shape in the middle. However, these colors were not happy bright. All of the three different magenta colors are cold and sad, because I wanted to explain her wounded heart. She might want a real love but most of the guys just wanted her beautiful appearance not her inside beauty. That’s why I wanted to use cold magenta color group rather than romantic red or delicate pink. I used blue color group for the background. The group was consisted of dark, heavy, cold and sad ocean blue colors, because it represented her fear and sadness toward the audience and her broken heart.

I took two pictures inspired by the colors that I used in my mosaic.



This is the picture of beads in different colors. Those colors are mostly used in my mosaic. Dark blue and navy blue can be found from the background of my mosaic and purple-like-magenta and little dark pinkish magenta can be found from the heart shape in my mosaic.




This is the second picture. I took a picture of magnolia because of its color. It is little brighter and more pinkish magenta but it has kind of coldness in it because it’s not the pastel tone color which is warm, cute, and soft.
