I believe that folk art belongs to the museum.
There are 3 points.

First of all, it’s beautiful.
The paintings are very beautiful. There is no doubt that the author had done a good job although she were not trained.
The most prominent characteristic of Theora Hamblet’s painting is full of colorful trees. It’s impressed me because I have never seen a beautiful tree like that.In one of her picture, she used only one color-yellow. I love it most because it’s simple, when I stare at it, it makes me feel really comfortable.




Second, they are creative.


Theora Hamblet crated a special painting skill, one is mix any color with white before paint, the other is to use double layers painting skill to paint leaves, usually yellow is the first layer. These two skill had made her trees look different, more brighter and colorful that other one did. Which impressed me significantly.










In those days, the black people were poor, so they collected every scraps they could find. Then they sew them together to make a something else, usually quilts. But they are not simply sewed them up, they put different color and shape in certain orders to crate special patterns. In the museum, there are many patterns, some looks like a maze, some looks like fruit, some looks like a mosaic, and some of them are chaos but beautiful. Also, they will use different materials in different themes. As a result, it became a special and sophisticated art piece that we can not only see it, but also touch it.






Finally, it’s full of history

From the paintings, we can totally figure out what Theora Hamblet’s life was, where she grow, what she like and what she care about. Most of her paintings are trees, we can easily tell that she has a affection of trees, she was so fascinating about the nature. She wanted to record everything she saw.
In one of the quilts, which made of hundreds of pieces, it contains lots of information about the society when it was made. There are some pieces about the space exploration, women’s dress, cloth with popular patterns, and sheets. From those tings, we could figure out that what’s the big event on that time, what color and material women like, what style is popular and so on.

To sum up, I think folk art belongs to the museum.
